Hey guys! How’re ya doing? Hope you’re excited for school next week.
In any case, did you read the newspapers last Saturday? (If you haven’t, it’s a good time to pick up the habit of keeping up with news! Don’t just read the Life! section though!)

Yup, it's this one! Don't they all look so cheerful? :)
If you did, I sure hope you saw the special report by The Straits Times about top students choosing the polytechnic route. And if you noticed carefully, there’s more than a couple of our students featured in it! I’m so proud of my school.
Hehe. We managed to get top scholars who’d decided that our school was the best choice and was able to offer them what they needed. It makes me feel really gratified because hey! Doesn’t it feel good to attend a school that even the top scholars want to come to?
Part of the reason why is, well, I guess, plain insecurity. Insecurity about whether or not I’ve made the right choice to come to a poly. I’ve got tons of cousins who’re really academically-inclined and did really well in their various JCs and went on to universities to do their degrees.
I guess when you’ve got awesome people like that for relatives, there’s somewhat a rather strong pressure to follow in their footsteps AND go to a JC like they did. It’s especially tough when some of my friends thought I was a little mad too, for wanting to go to polytechnic when I could so very easily go to a JC.
But I’m glad I stuck by my choice. It wasn’t easy ‘cause my mum wanted me to go to a JC, but... I knew what I wanted to do, and I knew I wanted to do a diploma in Mass Communication right here in NP.
And you know what, my little freshies? I’m glad you made the same choice too. :)
