Isn’t that awesome?? (It’s not my video though, I yanked it off YouTube) Now imagine seeing that live… because I DID! Hah. But I didn’t get a chance to get it on tape because my phone sucks massively, so you’ll have to deal with this “modified” version. No, that music wasn’t actually playing.

ANYWAY ANYWAY, super quick entry because I just got back just now and I’m super sleepy (so don’t expect pictures… yet! I’m getting people to send me the better ones), but I just wanted to tell you all how excited and patriotic I feel right now!! Can’t you tell by the Singapore flag?
That was just one of the many goodies I got in this year’s NDP goodie bag. It was really, really awesome, I swear. The whole parade I mean, not just the free stuff (but, of course, the true-blue Singaporean in me loves free things. Admit it: wouldn’t you?).
So this is some of the better stuff we received:

This year's bag! Not red and white, ohmygod

Special NDP-issue mag + my ticket!

Super cute Mr Bean clapper!

Aw :)

This light thing can be blue/white...

...or RED! I know, RIGHT?
Yeah, so those were the more ~awesome items in the pack. Other stuff I got: random voucher booklet (every single year!), a brochure thingy, a pretty cute inspirational quotes book called “Our Dreams for Singapore” (one of them was “For Poly students to pay equal amount of public transport fare as the JC students” - To that, I say a hearty AMEN!), a few biscuits (chocolate though, so no go for me), GUMMY BEARS! (the little kid in me loves them so), sweets, water + random drinks, SPECIAL NDP PONCHO, tissue (very very useful… it was pretty hot), ooh and free bread.
One cool thing about the bag: The flap is removable! My friend tells me it’s very similar to “Tagger” bags. So it’s like at first I got an all-green bag, then I decided to switch things around - thus the orange + green bag (Ideally I would have gotten blue, but alas! They were all taken).
I have to say - This year’s NDP was very well done! Seriously, I’m not kidding when I say this year’s is probably the best one I’ve seen so far. I remember falling asleep the last time I went to NDP in Primary 5… It was THAT bad. I’m not going to say much to spoil it for you guys, but this year’s parade had a really cool theme. The whole parade was done in a “chapter” style, which was way more interesting than last time. For one thing, it didn’t start with all the marching. (Okay so who else thinks the marching parts are a bore? Honestly!) There was this really weird/cute opening with Sang Nila Utama (a giant puppet… Rather freaky to me actually, but everyone else seemed to LOVE it) along with Mark Lee and Suhaimi Yusof (from Police and Thief), and the next segment was really kind of exciting because it was supposed to be like a what-if-terrorists-attacked-us kind of thing, and then I blanked out at the next segment (marching, ho-hum), and then it got AWESOME! with more singing and dancing and performances. I’m not going to go into detail - you’re going to have to see it next week - but there was this amazing down-the-years medley, where they sang music from all the eras and a really, really cute “When I Grow Up” video, which you can see here:
Yep, stolen from YouTube again! But isn’t it adorable? Aw, I love that little boy. “When I grow up, I wanna be a PSP!….. player”, and then he goes on to declare his aspirations for PRESIDENCY! That’s a first: A PSP-playing president. I’d vote for that!
Okay guys I’m really sleepy now! More next time when I get my photos uploaded. HAPPY NATIONAL DAY 2009 IN ADVANCE! Man, I’m seriously feeling so warm and fuzzy and proud to be a Singaporean right now. I’ll just leave you with a few more pics:

Haha, yes indeed - My home, my Singapore! And if you haven’t heard it yet, this year’s NDP song:
I wonder if NP’s own National Day celebrations next week will be this awesome! Maybe I’ll go check it out.. (and bring my Mr Bean clapper along with me
