Sitting for SATs!

Old, but still funny. Now if only I could do that and still pass magnificently.

Barely a week after the last official day of school, I'm back at the books because I have to prepare to take my SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test or something), because, you know, school's out and I've got to start thinking about university admissions. IS THERE NO ESCAPE?! So I've basically been spending about half of my Internet life on websites like College Board and Grockit. For interested people, the first site is the "official" SAT site, with some practice questions (weirdly easy) and for registration and things.

You're probably going to think I'm totally insane, but *ideally* I want to get a perfect score of 2400. Hey, aim high right? I mean, I aimed for 6 points (L1R5) during 'O' Levels and, despite not actually working towards that (haha, not at all), I still did pretty well regardless. I guess having a goal in mind really helps. But, this time, I am determined! ... Kind of, anyway. Thus the preparation right now. I can honestly swear to God that I haven't started so early for anything before. Test's on June 5 and I'm preparing NOW. It's MARCH. I have like 3 months or something. Okay, I have't actually registered but I know there are seats for the test still, so I'm putting it off for a little while.

I'm pretty okay with the sections in the test, but the one that's giving me the most grief would be the essay section. 25 minutes to write something thought-provoking and profound! And with questions like "based on the passage, do you feel that memories are detrimental in a person's life?" or "are there benefits of lying? How is lying important to a person's life?". I mean, WTH happened to simple questions like "My holidays" anyway?! Grr. Thus I'm trying to brush up on my knowledge of things like movies and books so I can quote them intelligently during the test. Wonder if I can reference celeb gossip? If that were a subject I'd probably pass with a distinction.

Well, anyway, I'm going back to being a nerd and doing practice questions. I hope they'll be easy!
