Percy Jackson & The Lightning Thief

If you haven’t caught Percy Jackson & The Lightning Thief yet, you should! I just watched it yesterday, and I found myself laughing at a lot of the humourous parts in the movie. In short, Percy Jackson = pretty awesome movie.

Well, if you don’t know the story, basically, Percy Jackson finds out he’s a demigod born of Poseidon (the god of sea), and that he’s been accused of stealing Zeus’s lightning bolt. So he has to convince Zeus that he’s innocent, or a war between the gods will be started. /o\ *oh noes*

I haz a lightning bolt. Be scared, mortal, or I will smite you down.

Check out the trailer:

Pretty cool, right? There were lots of cool effects in the movie. Like, Percy controlling the water, the hydras breathing fire and attacking the trio, the boat ride to Hell. And during the boat ride, there was also this stream of human hopes, dreams, wishes that were all lost floating out into somewhere. Probably a dumpster for lost dreams. Oh, and there was a cool phrase too. "All human lives end in suffering and misery." Depressing much, eh? But still, all very cool.

I have a trident. A water trident. Fear me and bow down, mortals!

There were some parts I didn’t like so much, though. Annabeth, the daughter of Athena, seemed kind of weak and dumb in some parts of the movie. Isn’t she supposed to be strong and smart, since Athena’s the goddess of wisdom and strength? Another thing was the pacing. At certain parts the movie seemed to just fly by. It didn’t make sense and it felt as though it was just showing me important plot points. It would have been nicer to go more in depth in certain parts, instead of skimming through. :(

Does my ass look huge? Don't lie to me. Tell me the truth.

But it’s not all so bad. After all, you get to see Pierce Brosnan (Mr. Brunner/Chiron) trotting around as a half human half horse. And Logan Lerman (Percy Jackson) is also very cute! (He's 18! My age! Whipee! *grins*) So it wasn’t hard to watch the movie at all. :D

The best part, though, was the dialogue.

Mr. Brunner: “Take this to defend yourself. It’s a powerful weapon.”
Percy: “This is a pen. This. Is. A. Pen!

So, if you haven’t watched Percy Jackson & The Lightning Thief yet, make sure you check it out! As for me, I’m off to find the book series and get started on reading! Have you read the book or the movie or both? Tell me what you think! Cheerios!
