Let me start by showing you guys who I thought was one of the worst dressed at this year's Oscars:

What was she thinking?! And I thought Sarah Jessica Parker was supposed to be fashionable.
By now, most people would have probably found out who won in the Oscars 2010 ceremony that took place on Monday (well, Sunday evening in the US) and - seriously - was anyone SURPRISED? From the very beginning, I knew that it was down to Avatar vs The Hurt Locker, and that The Hurt Locker would win. I mean, the Academy has a reputation of voting for the underdog or the "critically-acclaimed". No reviews of Avatar ever mention its brilliant plot or writing or dialogue because, quite honestly, it sucks. The only thing going for Avatar is the slew of technical awards like the much deserved Best Visual Effects win (duh).
The rest of the nominations went as predicted... Jeff Bridges, Sandra Bullock (I thought her speech was pretty sweet), Mo'Nique and my personal favourite - Christoph Waltz for his role as Col. Hans Landa in Inglourious Basterds. LOVE. His speech was adorable too, and for those who haven't watched the movie and seen the amazing "That's a Bingo!" scene, shame on you! This is my inner fangirl talking but I really giggled when he said "That's an uber bingo!" during his acceptance speech, which you can see:
I love how he pronounces his words!
Besides all that, I really thought this year's ceremony was a yawn fest. Okay, honestly, every award show is. IT'S TOO LONG AND FILLED WITH SPEECHES BY PEOPLE YOU DON'T KNOW ABOUT/DON'T CARE FOR. But, alright, I understand. After all, going through NP Mass Communication and doing video/sound editing, everything really is a lot of work, so I can understand why people who win for so-called "smaller" awards such as Best Sound Mixing sometimes take forever with their speeches.
Oh! I nearly forgot. How many people saw this year's "Kanye moment"? Remember the fiasco from the Grammys when Kanye West interrupted Taylor Swift's speech to talk about Beyonce's video? The Oscar equivalent was when the winner of the Best Documentary Short was giving his speech and he had barely gone into his first sentence when this woman just came up and took over. He looked SO annoyed, but he was such a gentleman and just let her rant on and on. Terrible quality, but here goes:
Isn't she rude? I dislike women like her. Reminds me of those market aunties.
Editor's Note: This auntie name is Elinor Burkett who also worked on the film that won. She came onstage because she had creative differences with the director Roger Ross Williams who refused to agree with her who would give the speech onstage beforehand (well, he did). Elinor's name was indeed called out as one of the receipients so she had very right to go onstage. Not exactly a Kanye if you ask me. ;)
So, what did you think of the Oscars? Let me know and leave a comment below! :)
